Based from our workshop in West Molesey our Service engineers travel around London and the South–East of England to our customers coffee shops, pubs and restaurants to install, service and repair espresso machines and grinders.

The servicing is scheduled, but when a breakdown occurs, it is important we have an engineer available to help.  So, for a significant part of the week the service engineers are based in our workshop, testing and preparing equipment for installation, so they are ready to go when they are needed on-site.

As well as the engineering our service engineers also learn about coffee, and how to make it so we can provide barista support when our customers need our help.

The exact hours for a service engineer vary from day to day depending on how busy we are but the standard day is from 8-4 in our workshop, with the days that are spent in the field often being a later finish time.  It is important to us that our engineers are happy, so we make sure they are not overworked and have enough time to rest and spend with their families.  Every 3rd weekend one of ourengineers is on-call for any on-site emergencies that arise.  The engineer is based at home and the call out rate is on average 1 call out- per weekend.  To say thank you, the Monday and Tuesday afterwards are given back to the engineer as time off in Lieu.

Our reputation for customer service is second to none, so it is important that our engineers are friendly and always do their best to help our customers.

Full training is provided in our workshop, and on site with our experienced service engineers, so no experience is necessary, but it is important that there is a level of mechanical experience.  It could be that you have worked on your own car instead of taking it to the garage, or you may have worked in another area of the engineering industry.  As long as you are confident with tools and have a can–do attitude, we can teach you to become an espresso machine service engineer.

Each engineer is provided with a company vehicle, and we offer a competitive salary package to reward our engineers for their work.

Espresso machines are built to last, but after 3-5 years of daily use they become full of limescale.  This causes the equipment to break down more and moreoften, until the machine needs to be refurbished.  At this point the service engineer installs a new machine for the customer, and the old machine is returned to our workshop.

Based in our workshop in West Molesey, the role of the Workshop Technician is to refurbish the used equipment so that is functions flawlessly and looks greatfor the next customer.

This includes completely disassembling the espresso machine, cleaning, descaling and servicing the individual parts, then carefully re-building the machine back to “as good as new” condition for the next customer.  The painted panels are sent to another company and re-powder coated, and the metal panels are re-surfaced by our workshop engineers to remove the scratches.

Finally, the machine is thoroughly tested for functionality and safety before being signed off as ready for use.

We also rent out coffee grinders, so these are also refurbished by our workshop engineers.

The work hours are 8-4 Monday to Friday, and full training is provided, but you will need to have some mechanical experience and have the desire to learn something new.  We pay a competitive salary for this role and in return we require a good work ethic and level of productivity.
